Fish Name: F1 Carp

Latin Name: Cyprinus carpio x Carassius carassius

Pond Requirements

  • Preferred Water Conditions: Will acclimatise to a wide range of conditions. pH: 6.5-8.0
  • Temperature: Cold water-temperate between 2-40 deg C (35-104 deg F)
  • The pond should be at LEAST 4ft/1.2m deep (6ft/1.8m or more is better)
  • As long and wide as possible to give a large surface area for oxygen exchange

Carp are always best kept in a pond situation, especially if they are to reach their full growth potential through exercise gained by swimming. Although keeping small carp in aquariums can be a faster way of growing them on, but should be moved into a larger environment when bigger.

In colder climates, it is important to consider the depth of the pond because of seasonal temperature fluctuations; rapid changes in temperature will distress carp. The deeper your pond is in proportion to the surface area, the less susceptible it will be to swings in temperature.

Feeding

Good quality pond flakes (for smaller Carp), pond pellets, pond sticks, frozen/live foods etc. Prawns, earthworms, and lettuce are all good treats to be fed now and again.

As the water temperature cools down in late Autumn, a lower protein wheat germ-based food should be fed.

Fish will be shipped at the earliest possible moment. We will send you a text message beforehand to make sure you’re available to receive them. Shipments are sent on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
